Transition To United States Dollar
While Potentially Tragic itself is a fully Canadian operation, our actual clothing supplier is based out of the United States. Due to this, we pay for all of our clothing in the United States Dollar. This has, unfortunately, resulted in some unforeseen consequences.
You see, the Canadian Dollar isn’t worth all that much, at least not in comparison to the United States Dollar. For that reason, we actually ended up losing money on all of the things that we sold. While we didn’t lose much per transaction, the fact that Potentially Tragic is unprofitable, was obviously a pretty big oversight on our part. The biggest hit we took was actually in regards to sales tax from our supplier. Then there’s also PayPal transaction fees, which recently went up. Not to mention currency conversion fees.
All in all, we lost money on every sale.
That’s why, starting today, we are going to be transitioning our entire storefront from the Canadian Dollar to the United States Dollar. While the issue of supplier tax will remain, the currency conversion fees are all but eliminated, and the PayPal transaction fees also go down a fair bit.
We hope you understand why these changes were made, and hope you will continue to buy from Potential Tragic.
